“ The classic go-to for donuts and other goodies with the family on the weekends. Pepper Jack and sausage kolache was PHENOMENAL. All their donuts are top notch and warm and fluffy (not heavy). The favorite in our group is the cinnamon twist. You can't find a better one anywhere and we've tested it! They have frozen stuff to that you can take home! The staff is so bright, friendly, professional, and just an all around joy. We had a little blonde high school age girl who was just so lovely our kids were raving about her. Meche's is a New Iberia staple and continues to impress. ”

“ Meche's. Whenever I'm near this little slice of heaven, I go in and take ALL the kolache. And yes, I mean all. I buy them all. It doesn't matter if there's a string of hungry orphans behind me hoping for a single kolache to share. I'm taking them all. They make them so soft. Fresh and soft. I remember the first time a Meche's kolache caught my eye. I was younger then, spry and looking for trouble. The jalapeño kolache gave me a wink. 'Who me?' I point to myself after a quick look behind. 'At's right. You baby.' The kolache whispers. 'What you doin' this side of town?' 'I'm spry and looking for trouble', says me. 'Looks like you found all the trouble you can handle'. My eyes linger on that golden brown curve. A slight curl of steam rising from that single jalapeño. I swallow and glance at my Fitbit. I don't have all my steps in for the day, but maybe, if I promise myself to hit the Marriott gym in the morning... Needless to say, I did not hit the Marriott gym in the morning. But I did bring a whole dozen of hot kolache with me. And I have no regrets ”
